EP 183 - Vienna Pharaon
Thank you for joining us again on The Pretty Intense Podcast. Today on the show is Vienna Pharaon. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is the author of a new book called "The Origins Of You". Immediate disclosure, she has been my therapist for about a year and a half. We started the episode with me, going into the 4 most impactful things I learned while working with Vienna. The thing about doing personal development work is even knowing you need to do it. The first thing we talk about is knowing how to access the observer. How do you access that observer in a heated moment before you just end up in your pattern, in your trigger? There are so many access points that Vienna gives to get into those places, so we can truly access more joy, more peace, in our lives. Isn't that the point? It comes through some pain. It comes through some change, and it comes through facing things and sitting in the fire. The work is never done, but there are levels to it. I love the work. I love being more happy and more joyful, and maybe having a more accurate perspective from time to time, and not being caught in my patterns, or "The Origins Of You." There is so much to learn in this episode. We hope this episode is really helpful in your personal development journey.

Background:
Vienna Pharaon is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York, practicing out of New York City, conveniently located near Grand Central Station. Vienna received her Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from Northwestern University, and trained extensively at The Family Institute, Bette D. Harris Center. There she treated individuals, couples, and families in a clinic setting. Vienna also received training at Family Focus, a community outreach program, providing community-, home-, and clinic-based therapeutic services for individuals and families. After moving back east, Vienna continued her training in Manhattan based private practice settings and worked with both individuals and couples, as well as individuals who needed structured anger management therapy. Vienna started her own practice, Mindful Marriage & Family Therapy, in an effort to expand her approach and help as many people heal, and step into their transformation as possible. Vienna is also the “Relationship Expert” for Motherly, a platform for millennial mothers who are transitioning into parenthood. She runs singles and couples retreats around the world, and leads relationship workshops in new cities every few months. Vienna brings a special type of energy to therapy. She truly believes that her clients have the capacity to create beautiful, long lasting change. She pays close attention to patterns, and looks to understand a person’s full story before examining the “issue” that’s bringing the client in. Vienna listens to understand, and uses a collaborative approach so that she and her clients can explore, discuss, challenge thoughts and feelings, and create goals. She uses a systemic and integrative approach that addresses people within the context of their relationships.Vienna’s style uses warmth, compassion, intuition, optimism, and collaboration. She is active in therapy, and although she finds listening to be incredibly important, she’s known to challenge her clients, highlight where they’re stuck, and encourage their transformation.
